14th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Fr. Rojin Karickal • Jul 09, 2023

It is the 14th Sunday of Ordinary Time. In the weekend gospel, Jesus says:

"Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am meek and humble of heart;
and you will find rest for yourselves.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden light."

The biblical passage of Matthew 11:25-30 encourages us to approach God with humility and childlike faith and to prioritize our relationship with Him above worldly pursuits. Jesus offers rest for our tired souls and invites us to surrender our burdens to Him, so that we may participate in His work of love and compassion. We can find true rest through a deep relationship with Jesus, which leads to transformation and freedom. Let us respond to His invitation by seeking moments of prayer, gratitude, and self-reflection, and sharing His message with others on our faith journey.

We are thrilled to announce our upcoming raffle and invite you to save the date of October 8th for a day of fun and celebration at our Parish. After 10:00 a.m. Mass, we will begin the raffle event, promising a joyful Sunday for all, even during the Columbus Day weekend. This will be an excellent opportunity to come together as a parish family, enjoy delicious food, and foster a sense of community.

Starting on August 1st, we will start selling raffle tickets to support our Parish budget. We kindly ask for your participation in this endeavor by purchasing tickets and volunteering in various areas of the event. Your dedication and involvement will contribute to the success of this special day. Please mark October 8th on your calendars and join us as we celebrate our shared faith and fellowship. Let us make this raffle a memorable event, strengthening the bonds of our St. Jerome Church community.

Next weekend, we have our Co-op Mission Sunday, an event where we traditionally welcome speakers from different parts of the world to share their experiences of missionary work in their respective dioceses. This time, we may or may not have a guest speaker, but we will still have a special second collection to support their vital ministries. St. Jerome has always been known for its generosity towards missionaries, and we continue to uphold that tradition. I kindly request your support for this significant endeavor, as it aligns with the mission Jesus entrusted to us—to spread His message across the globe. Together, we can make a difference in supporting these important missions.

Thank you for your continued support and commitment.

Yours Lovingly ~ Fr. Rojin
